Introduction

The Pathology and Registration Department is based on Fleurbaix Farm in Stellenbosch and is manned by the Pathologist, Senior Laboratory Technician, Quality Control Officer, Quarantine and Nucleus Technician, Laboratory Assistant and Data Clerk. The Deciduous Fruit Plant Certification Scheme as is promulgated under the Plant Improvement Act (Act 53 of 1976) requires full diagnostic capabilities for the routine testing of organisms as is indicated within the document.

Currently SAPO Trust consist of full nucleus, foundation and mother block units, where only the nucleus blocks will be housed in Stellenbosch in future. The foundation blocks are located in different areas in the Western Cape. Mother blocks of SAPO Trust plant varieties are located throughout South Africa.
