Rootstock Characteristics Parentage
1. Ruggeri 140 Tolerates a wide variety of soils and good adaption to limestone soils, has high drought tolerance and suited to dry, lean, superficial, sandy and stony soils. Very high in vigour, high phylloxera resistance and moderate resistance to root-knot nematodes. Late maturing. Vitis berlandieri x Vitis rupestris
2. SO4 High resistance against phylloxera and nematodes Vitis berlandieri x Vitis riparia
3. RS-3 Low vigour to medium vigour rootstock for high potential soils, with resistance against a wide spectrum of nematodes and phylloxera, but sensitive to soil wetness and salinity. Prefer sandy soils. Medium to late maturity. Fanleaf tolerant. Should not be over irrigated. Vitis riparia x Vitis rupestris
4. RS-9  Resistant to phylloxera and nematodes, but lower in vigour compared to RS-3 and suited to high potential soils. Suitable for close plantings. Low influence on maturity. Vitis riparia x Vitis rupestris
5. Harmony Medium to high vigour rootstock with high resistance against root-knot nematodes, low phylloxera resistance, moderate to high drought tolerant. Prefer sandy soils with moderate fertility.  Vitis champinii x Vitis vinifera x Vitis labrusca x Vitis riparia (1613 C x V. champanii)
6. Freedom High vigour rootstock is recommended for medium potential sandy/loam soils under irrigation where nematodes are present. Highly resistant to root-knot and dagger nematodes but susceptible to ring nematodes. Moderate phylloxera resistant. Vitis champinii x Vitis vinifera x Vitis labrusca x Vitis riparia (1613 C x V. champanii)
7. Minotaur High vigour, complete suppression of root-knotnematode reproduction in greenhouse evaluation. Vitis mustangensis x Vitis rupestris
8. Kingfisher High vigour, complete suppression of root-knot nematode reproduction in greenhouse evaluation. Vitis champinii x Vitis rufotomentosa
9. GRN-1 Moderate to high vigour, very high resistant to a number of nematodes, including root-knot, very high phylloxera resistance, moderate drought tolerant, tolerant to wet feet, moderate to high influence on maturity. Vitis rupestris x Muscadinia rotundifolia
10. GRN-2       Low to moderate vigour, very high resistance to a number of nematodes, including root-knot, moderate drought tolerant, moderate wet feet tolerant, low to moderate influence on maturity. Vitis rufotomentosa x Vitis champinii
11. GRN-3 Moderate vigour, very high resistance to a number of nematodes, including root-knot, very high phylloxera resistance, moderate to high drought tolerant, moderate wet feet tolerant. Moderate influence on maturity. Vitis rufotomentosa x Vitis champinii x c9038 V. champinii
12. VR 039-16 High vigour rootstock with low resistance against phylloxera, very high resistance to dagger nematode only, low drought tolerant, late maturity and resistant to fanleaf degeneration. Vitus retundifolia x Vitus vinifera
13. 143B Mgt Well adapted to heavy, wet soils and with vigorous growth habit, good tolerance to salinity and drought. Susceptible to phylloxera and nematodes.
